Cody Harrington , Senior Technical Director, Sony Pictures Imageworks

Cody Harrington is a digital effects artist with an extensive background in film production, visual effects, broadcast television, theater, music, and interactive multimedia.

Currently a Sr. Technical Director with Sony Pictures Imageworks, Culver City, CA., Cody's specialty has been in creating 3d volumetric atmospheric and elemental effects (clouds, tornadoes, hurricanes, avalanches, snow, dust, rain, fire, and fluids), as seen in many feature films.

Cody's interest in film has centered early on cinematography and lighting as he worked  for 10 years on many location based films such as; Date with an Angel, Die Hard, Leonard V1, King Kong Lives, Manhunter, Vibes, Weeds, At Close Range, Year Of The Dragon, Cats Eye, and Firestarter.

In 1985 he broke into visual effects while working for Richard Edlund (Star Wars IV VFX supervisor), Thaine Morris, Larz Anderson, and Mat Beck at BOSS Film in Marina Del Rey, CA. Picking up camera motion control and blue-screen optical compositing techniques in the pre-digital optical compositing era provided a solid foundation for cgi.  James Cameron's  "Abyss" was the crossover film for Cody to reinvent the way he approached creating special effects from behind a keyboard instead of from behind a camera.

Cody's current project at Imageworks: Director Zack Snyder's  version of Alan Moore's legendary graphic novel "Watchmen" ( March, 2009)

Digital Credits include:
Sony Pictures Imageworks:  Speed Racer, I am Legend, Beowulf (2007), Spiderman 3 (Sandman team, 2006),

Digital Domain, Venice, CA.: xXx (avalanche), Daredevil, Star Trek Nemesis, The Day After Tomorrow (tornado seq.), and Stealth (cloudscapes, skys)

(2008)
