Seminar Description
During the last few decades of the 20th Century (and well into the 21st)
we’ve indulged in a frenzy of hyper-consumerism, caught up in a cycle
of buy, use (or not), and toss. We’re told it’s our civic duty to
replace what we have with the “newer, trendier, better” to support the
economy. But this unsustainable design principle -- “planned
obsolescence” -- only results in a vast overflow of junk that ends up in
landfills the world over. Hear from leading innovators and top
designers in the avant-garde of a new
design for collaborative consumption, which includes sharing services,
space, tools, tech equipment, and so much more. And learn how Social
Media is enhancing the movement towards living more sensible,
responsible, and ultimately, more fulfilling lives.
