Walt Disney Studios has signed a multi-year agreement with Shanghai Media Group Pictures to develop Disney-branded movies, the latest move by a U.S. studio to grow its presence in China's entertainment business. Chinese themes will be incorporated in Disney films.
Sony has entered a deal to sell its former Tokyo headquarters and a nearby building for 6 million. The asset sale comes as Sony carries out a new round of restructuring involving a reduction of 5,000 jobs worldwide, a spinoff of its TV division and the sale of its PC business.
Disney's struggling video game and digital media division said it is cutting roughly 700 jobs worldwide. The division, which is also closing several offices, described the move as "difficult but necessary given our strategy focused on sustainable profitability and innovation."
